Tottenham have reportedly ditched their hunt of Paulo Fonseca and have diverted attention to Gennaro Gattuso as the north Londoners continue their pursuit for a new manager.

Italian outlet GianlucaDiMarzio reports that negotiations between Fonseca and Spurs have broken down because of ‘tax reasons’

Speaking on Twitter, football journalist Fabrizio Romano said: “Incredible Tottenham again. There are huge fiscal problems to complete the appointment of Fonseca as new manager despite verbal agreement completed and contract set to be signed, as reported on @SkySport @DiMarzio #THFC That’s why Fonseca has NOT signed yet with Spurs.”

“#THFC Tottenham search now restarted. Jorge Mendes will try with Gattuso.”

It now appears Tottenham are focusing their efforts on appointing Italian legend Gattuso as the club’s new manager.

Gattuso was only installed as Fiorentina boss on May 25 but quit his role after just 23 days, with reports claiming a disagreement between manager and board over transfer policy.
