Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu has revealed how injury to Awako influenced his side’s poor performance in the Super Clash against bitter rivals Kotoko.
Hearts drew 1-1 away to Kotoko in match day three of the Betpawa Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians scored in the 88th minute to pull parity after Yussif Mubarik put Kotoko in the lead following a poor goalkeeping from Richmond Ayi.
However coach Samuel Boadu rather bizarrely revealed that his team’s poor performance was as a result of a knock Awako picked before the game.
” We planned to dominate possession but the team wasn’t helped by the injury Awako picked up during the warm up before the game” Boadu said.
The former Olympics midfielder lasted 85 minutes of the game before he was hauled off.
The draw leaves Hearts winless in their opening three games of the season and have picked just two points from a possible nine.
