The Black Stars missed the chance to go top of their qualifying group as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in their penultimate game of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ethiopia went into the game with nothing to lose and for most part of the match controlled the game.

The Black Stars however came close to breaking the deadlock but were denied by a double save by the Ethiopian goalkeeper.

Ghana were not to be denied this time when Ayew popped up with a captain’s goal to put the Black Stars in the lead from a brilliantly taken free-kick.

The home-side were awoken by that goal and twice tested Wollacott between the sticks for Ghana.

The Black Stars had a chance to double their lead but Yiandom missed a big chance as Ghana took a narrow lead into the break.

Ethiopia returned from the break the better side and posed a lot of problems to the Black Stars defense.

The Walias dominated posession and for a large part of the second half asked most of the questions but could not find the back of the net as they came close to equalizing but theiir effort came off the bar.

The hosts eventually got a deserved equalizer after they nicked the ball off Joseph Aidoo to set up Kebede who scored a brilliant goal to draw parity for the hosts.

The goal brought Ghana back to live but struggled to test the Ethiopian goalkeeper to leave their qualifying hopes in the balance.

Ghana however have their qualifying hopes in their hands when they face South Africa on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.
