Legon Cities FC have approached Ibrahim Tanko with a view to him replacing Goran Barjaktarevic as the club’s next coach.
Barjaktarevic was axed by the Royals after a slow start to the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season, having failed to win any of of their opening two games.
Legon Cities opened the season with a disappointing 1-1 draw with Berekum Chelsea before losing woefully to Great Olympics on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium on match day two.
Insiders say the Accra-based club have made contact with Tanko’s representatives amid the team’s dismal form under Barjaktarevic.
Coach Tanko, who currently heads the Black Stars B, has already reiterated his desire to coach any club in the country.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Otec FM two months ago, the former Borussia Dortmund striker said: “Why Not? I’m always available for any club that comes in with a good offer. It could be any time soon, either today or tomorrow.”
“My job is coaching so as long as am here, I’m ready and willing for any club who can meet my demand,” he added.
Tanko last coached at club level in the 2011/2012 season where he served as an assistant manager for Bundesliga side FC Köln.
He has also had a stint with the Cameroon national team as an assistant coach at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
