Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has stated that he has no regret for sacking Coach Maxwell Konadu.
Kotoko’s early hours of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season was spearheaded by former Black Stars assistant Coach, Maxwell Konadu but he was fired by Nana Yaw Amponsah over poor results.
Going on to lose the league title to rivals Hearts of Oak at the end of the campaign, Nana Yaw Amponsah says he looks back with no regrets.
“I don’t regret sacking Maxwell Konadu. At the time we were sacking him, his win percentage was not good but Barreto’s win record is good and it’s around 70 and 80 percent,” the Kotoko CEO said in an interview on Asempa FM on Thursday.
According to Nana Yaw Amponsah, Coach Mariano Barreto’s future will be decided at the end of the season when the MTN FA Cup competition is completed.
“At the end of the season, we will access him and if he has not met our target, we will take a decision,” he added.
At the moment, Asante Kotoko are in the quarter-finals of the cup competition and hopes to go all the way to the finals to win it to have the chance to play in Africa next season.
