The Ghana football Association has confirmed, Black Stars will play two friendly matches during the international break June.

The two friendlies comes in as a stop gap for vacuum created with the postponement of the African World Cup Qualifiers competition for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the tournament has been rescheduled to September by CAF.

The senior national team were to kick off the campaign with Ethiopia on June 4th and South Africa few days after, the match will now be honored on September 4 and 9 in Cape Coast and Johannesburg.

The GFA believes, Black Stars needs to be in good shape for the matches hence the need to play in a friendly, they’ve lined up two matches with two African countries who’s identities will be announced together with the invited players in a press meeting with the head coach, Charles Kwabena Akonnor at 3pm.

“Head Coach of the Black Stars Charles Kwablan Akonnor will address the media on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the Conference Hall of the Ghana Football Association.

Coach Akonnor will name Ghana’s squad for two friendly matches that have been lined up for the team in the June International window.

The friendly matches replace the FIFA World Cup qualifiers that got postponed last week.

Coach Akonnor and his Technical team will use the games to further assess players ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana was scheduled to engage Ethiopia and South Africa in two FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Cape Coast and Johannesburg respectively.
