The Black Stars were held to a goalless draw away to Madagascar in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Ghana needed a win to secure qualification before the final round of group games but failed to do so with a performance that lacked a cutting edge and was largely spiritless against a side that is bottom of Group E in the qualifiers.

The home-side with little to play for showed a great fight to stun a star-studded Black Stars side and left the pitch at the end of full time to loud cheers from the crowd.

Coach Chris Hughton’s side must improve on their performance in order to book a place in the next Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Ivory Coast next year.

The Black Stars will host the Central Africa Republic in the final round of games with a win or draw enough to guarantee qualification for the Nations Cup.
